RUTHIE DAVIS SPRING 2012: ARTIFICIAL REALITY

My Spring 2012 Inspiration Board.  What I am feeling right now:  pool blue, coral, deep warm gold, 70's chic,  skin, nude, more coral and poppy, Palm Springs Desert Modernism, saucy, minimal, Farrah Faucet, artificial reality and punk duckies!

Ever wonder how a stacked leather heel is made?

First they take large pieces of thick "cuoio" leather and cut them into various sizes depending on the heel shapes and stack them together with glue between each layer.

The layers of cuoio leather are like solid logs after the glue solidifies.

Then, there is a machine that is like a deli meat slicer that slices the stacked leather logs into thin slices.

The slices of stacked leather are brushed with a treatment and placed on racks before being applied with glue to the heels.

These heels have are waiting to have the outside stacked cuoio applied.  There are quite a few more steps in the process, but seeing as I'm not a photo journalist - I had to get back to my day job and work on some shoes!

Movin' on up....to the High Line!

So excited to be "movin' on up - to the High Line....to a deluxe office in the sky!  We are moving into a new Ruthie Davis Headquarters shaped like the heel of one of my shoes!  It will be sleek and sexy and minimal and HOT!!  Rainbows and Unicorns!

MOVIE STAR GLAMOUR

Evan Rachel Wood is looking beyond fab in my SS 11 "Modern" heels in this week's LA Times Magazine Cover shoot! Love!  I met her at the Mildred Pierce premiere and she was so stunning in person - a total movie star glow.  We talked shoes for a few minutes and I'm proud she's a fan!  She was super sweet and kind.  She's a keeper!
